Vice President Human Resources, Food Manufacturing, Operations, Corporate, Vaughan, $Growing family business

Hays Human Resources is partnered with our client in Vaughan to hire their Vice President, Human Resources.

Your new Company

The business is a family owned and operated dairy manufacturer, distributor and retailer. The company was first incorporated in 1988 and produce a large selection of specialty dairy products for the retail and food service sectors. Due to continued growth and progression planning, the team is excited to welcome their Vice President, Human Resources to the executive leadership team.

Your new role

As the Vice President Human Resources, you will play a critical role in offering strategic HR support to all senior leaders and employees in the organization. You will be responsible for the development and execution of the HR strategy in support of the overall vision and strategic direction of the business. You will lead all areas of HR, with a focus on Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Employee Learning and Development, Employee Experience and Labour Relations; 90% of the company’s workforce are in operations. We are seeking someone with established experience, ideally from another food manufacturing environment, to succeed in this role. Your day-to-day responsibilities will be the following: to oversee all areas of HR management; advise senior leadership on strategic business decisions and key corporate planning; collaborate with senior leaders to increase employee engagement, job satisfaction and retention;, partner with functional leaders to understand their talent needs and develop and implement strategies to acquire, retain and grow top talent; lead and mentor a team of direct reports; set performance goals tailored to HR; monitor department performance against KPIs to ensure progress is made and action being taken when necessary; lead the implementation of new L&D programs designed to grow the talent pool within the business; proactively identify HR risk, and propose risk management strategies to combat as necessary; provide strategic direction for HR policies and procedures and ensure they are compliant; develop systems and control measures for the HR function and oversee the payroll process ensuring compliance, inclusive of the management the payroll team; other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to Succeed

To succeed as the Vice President Human Resources, you will have completed post-secondary HR education, in the form of a BA HRM or related, HRM and/ or CHRL and completion of a master’s degree is considered an asset. You will bring 15+ years of progressive HR experience, and have established experience at a Senior leadership level, with demonstrated experience of developing and implementing HR strategies across all areas of HR. You will have some form of industry related experience, ideally coming from another food manufacturing and/ or operations environment. You will have experience leading teams and driving organizational change. You will be an active listener, who is focused on understanding the business and building long-term functional relationships with everyone in the organization. You will act with a high degree of maturity and confidentiality and be strong in conflict resolution. You will be an effective decision maker and have very strong knowledge of the ESA and associated labour laws. Further, you will be a fantastic communicator, who presents professionally and who enjoys working as part of a successful and growing, family-owned and operated business. You will be able to influence key decisions and initiatives, articulate HR plans and drive the company’s culture, value and mission. Finally, you will have knowledge of MS Office Suite and be experienced with key HR databases and software.
