Property Accounting Supervisor - Midtown Toronto

Positive Overview: Seeking an experienced, energetic, and detail-oriented candidate to join our accounting team as a Manager, Property Accounting at our Head Office located in Downtown Toronto. This position offers an excellent growth and learning opportunity for an individual who is diligent, a great team player, and has an interest in the real estate industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, mentor, and assess performance of a team of property accountants.
  • Respond and prepare analytical reports for Asset Management relating to the properties under your portfolio.
  • Preparation of analytical reports relating to the billing, payable and cash collection cycle.
  • Preparation and review of annual final CAM and Tax billing – including building a model in excel and lease audits of existing models.
  • Liaise with investors, where required.
  • Assist in managing dispositions and acquisitions of commercial real estate including: entries, reconciliations and onboarding as necessary.
  • Preparation and review of month-end/recurring journal entries.
  • Preparation and review of monthly reporting packages (including financial statements).
  • Preparation and review of quarterly reporting packages (including financial statements, work papers and supporting schedules).
  • Preparation and review of intercompany charge backs.
  • Preparation and review of annual budget.
  • Preparation and review of tenant/vendor chargebacks as needed.
  • Liaise with Property Managers and Asset Managers.
  • Cash flow management and cash calls when required.
  • Other property accounting related tasks and duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in real estate accounting space
  • Ability to review work of other peer accountants in a timely manner and provide coaching and mentoring.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize/manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a demanding work environment.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to write detailed reports and communicate well with senior management.
  • Excellent computer skills with a proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, and accounting software packages.
