Hays has partnered with a leading contractor in the Greater Toronto Area, known for their four decades of service to the community. This contractor specializes in ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) construction builds, with a strong focus on institutional projects such as schools, community centres, and other government-funded buildings.

About the Role:
The open position is for a Site Superintendent who will play a crucial role in overseeing institutional construction projects in the $10-20M range.

The Site Superintendent will report directly to the Project Manager and will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate workers, subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment to ensure the project is completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Liaise with project managers, designers, engineers, clients, and governing authorities to achieve the scope of work.
  • Order materials and supplies as needed.
  • Quickly and effectively solve job site issues to keep work on track and on time; manage and document job cost extras for review by the Project Manager.
  • Follow fiscal policies set by management.
  • Conduct site meetings as required; provide daily site and weekly safety reports; conduct safety talks.
  • Ensure work is done in compliance with all OHSA regulations and applicable health & safety policies and procedures, including thorough compliance with OHSA and COR.
  • Must be able to obtain police background check/clearance.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years as a Site Superintendent or in a similar role, with experience managing institutional projects ranging from $5M to $25M.
  • Relevant education in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Experience building educational facilities is a definite asset.
