Site Superintendent

The Company: Dunsire Developments
Compensation: $90,000 - $120,000 (including Car Allowance)

The Site Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of overseeing and managing assigned residential projects while nurturing and developing team members under their charge. The Site Supervisor must have a passion for residential construction and the impact their work has on both the company and its customers. Taking ownership and having a high regard for accountability while maintaining an entrepreneurial mindset is essential to this role. Major Responsibilities:
  • Communicate with building material providers to schedule and ensure delivery of necessary supplies to work sites.
  • Schedule all respective installation, inspections and service to ensure an efficient and high-quality build.
  • Work with Construction Manager to plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones as well as monitor progress
  • Proactively anticipating conflicts with schedules or people connected to schedule and resolving them in advance when possible.
  • Create efficiencies and keep management team updated on all projects
  • Review and approve all production schedules, completion slips and site PO’s.
  • Ensures trade partners, inspectors and suppliers adhere to the scheduled activities, paying close attention to quality and adherence to the options and extras, scope of work, contract and all relevant building codes.
  • Solve problems within level of authority/scope quickly, economically and in a way that preserves relationships.
  • Plan, organize and conduct regular meetings and toolbox talks with staff and trades to review materials, quality, production and safety.
  • Teach and mentor staff in technical skills and soft skills.
  • Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment and adherence to the Dunsire Health and Safety program, including safe work practices on site, first aid, legislative compliance to Ontario Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and the Ministry of Labour (MOL) green book.
  • Contribute when needed to help progress a project through onsite effort (working supervisor)

Experience and Skills:
  • 3–5 years residential construction experience in the new home industry at a senior level.
  • Min. High school or equivalent education required
  • Must be detail-oriented, have excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving abilities, and proven leadership skills.
  • Lead by example with a commitment to safety, communication and a focus on our customer and the final product.
  • Extensive knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Ontario Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and Health & Safety regulations and requirements.
  • Clear and thorough understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, construction methods, materials and regulations. Includes knowledge of all trades, staff responsibilities, scheduling & scopes of work.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and priorities while using a well-developed problem-solving ability to resolve issues as they arise.
  • A commitment to ongoing education and ability to adapt with new product, methods and materials.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required, both verbal and written. Willing to take responsibility display a highly developed level of accountability and reliability
  • Strong leadership skills with effective teaching methods
  • Must have own basic hand tools
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and a clean driver's abstract
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, reach, stand, kneel, and climb ladders as needed
