Remote Network Specialist - Leading International Business Law Firm

Hays is currently partnering with a leading international business law firm to seek a Network Specialist to join their firm wide team. The successful candidate will support several systems related to the services provided by the firm. They will be responsible for the management and maintenance of the network and its components. While the role will be primarily remote, in-office hoteling spaces are available upon request. Occasional travel to other offices may be required as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Network Development & Delivery:
    Collaborate with the networking team on the development and delivery of data, voice, and video systems across all offices, data centres, and cloud environments.
  • Azure Networking:
    Optimize and configure MS Azure networking, firewalls, and management groups.
  • Cloud Transformation:
    Assist in transforming the firm’s networking and security architecture from on-premise to cloud-based (SD-WAN, SSE, FWaaS, ZTNA, CASB).
  • Network Administration:
    Administer the design and maintenance of primary routers, firewalls, BGP network, OSPF network, perimeter safety devices, and network monitoring systems.
  • DNS & SSL Management:
    Manage DNS, SSL certificates, and network trust relationships.
  • VPN & MFA:
    Administer the firm’s VPN and multifactor authentication environment.
  • Access Policies:
    Configure conditional access policies and risk-based authentication policies.
  • Redundancy:
    Ensure adequate network and power redundancy is in place.
  • Wi-Fi Management:
    Administer the design and maintenance of the firm’s Wi-Fi components.
  • Standards Implementation:
    Develop, implement, and disseminate standard practices and tools to make architecture guidelines and standards functional.

Secondary Responsibilities
  • Support Maintenance:
    Support various parties involved in the maintenance of network equipment and network security equipment.
  • Hardware Upgrades:
    Plan maintenance periods to upgrade, install, or replace existing hardware.
  • Operational Activities:
    Participate in different operational activities on network platforms stemming from various projects, incidents, and requests/inquiries.
  • Consultant Oversight:
    Monitor all design work and deliverables supplied by consultants, review and approve solutions.
  • Technology Trends:
    Keep current with trends and innovations in network technology.
  • Project Expertise:
    Serve as a subject-matter expert in various IT projects.
  • Documentation:
    Draft and update relevant documentation, network diagrams, and guides.
  • Collaboration:
    Collaborate with Managed Service providers for enterprise and/or local solutions.

Qualifications
  • Certifications:
    • Fortinet Certified Solution Specialist/Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent experience.
    • Fortinet Certified Expert/Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) is an asset.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the definition, design, deployment, and support of voice, video, and data network systems.
    • Proven experience in the deployment of concepts, computer security systems, and high-availability networks.
    • Experience in managing technology development projects.
    • Experience in the implementation of disaster recovery plans.
    • Experience working with managed service providers for implementations, support, and maintenance.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong technical knowledge in network systems and services; LAN/WAN, switches and routing protocols, firewalls, VPN, wireless networks, DNS, DHCP, WAF, safety and monitoring devices, and network access security.
    • Experience in the configuration, management, and monitoring of routers, switches, firewalls, and Wi-Fi.
    • MS Teams Telephony knowledge and experience.
    • Enterprise Network Architecture: BGP, OSPF, QoS, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi in a high availability environment.
