Burnaby Company in Film Industry Seeking Financial Analyst Immediately for 3-Month Contract

Hays is working with an organization within the studio production industry with operations in British Columbia. We are hiring a financial analyst immediately for a 3-month contract based in Burnaby, BC. They work full-time hours, Monday-Friday, fully in an office.

Your new role

The Financial Analyst will serve as an integral part of the finance department. You will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Conduct financial analysis using performance metrics and assess the financial impact of business initiatives.
  • Review and compare financial results (monthly, quarterly, annually) against forecasts and budgets, and explain the differences to help leadership make informed decisions.
  • Prepare and share regular financial reports with stakeholders.
  • Include strategic insights, risks, and opportunities in financial analysis to guide key business decisions.
  • Build and enhance tools/processes to improve financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting, collaborating with various teams.
  • Support and promote a diverse, inclusive, and environmentally conscious workplace culture.
Contribute to other related projects and initiatives as needed

What you'll need to succeed

  • 3+ years of experience in either full-cycle accounting and/or financial analysis.
  • Degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting concepts
  • CPA certification or actively pursuing is considered an asset.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to complete accurate reviews of large data sets
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and ability to work independently
Experience with annual and quarterly budgeting/forecasting processes
