A multi-serviced service law firm in Kitchener-Waterloo is looking for a Family Law & Litigation Assistant.

Your new company

Our client is a multi-serviced service law firm in Kitchener-Waterloo Region. They are currently seeking a Family Law and Litigation Legal Assistant to join their practice.


Your new role

As a Legal Assistant, your tasks will involve:

  • Drafting Legal Documents:
    Prepare and review legal documents such as petitions, motions, affidavits, and agreements related to family law and civil litigation cases.
  • Legal Research:
    Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles to assist attorneys in case preparation.
  • Case Management:
    Maintain and organize case files, manage case documents, and ensure all information is up-to-date and easily accessible.
  • Client Communication:
    Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, court officials, and other parties involved in the case. This includes scheduling appointments, court dates, and meetings.
  • Trial Preparation:
    Assist attorneys in preparing for trials by organizing evidence, preparing case summaries, and compiling materials for depositions.
  • Administrative Support:
    Handle administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, and managing billing and invoicing for legal services provided.
  • Compliance:
    Ensure all court deadlines and timelines are met, and maintain compliance with court procedures and protocols.

What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this position, we are seeking a candidate with 4 year of legal support experience in civil litigation and family law in Canada. Proficiency in MS Office, ACL, DivorceMate, Clio, Filevine, Primafact, LEAP is essential. Exceptional organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are also required. This position also requires FIVE days in office attendance.
