Director of Finance and Administration Position Available in Calgary, AB

Your new company

A non-denominational independent French international school providing a challenging and stimulating bilingual education within a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment. They are Calgary’s premier French School, the only pre-K to Grade 12 school in Western Canada.

Your new role

Reporting to the Head of School (HoS), the Director of Finance and Administration (DFA) is a member of the senior management team. The Director of Finance and Administration is responsible for the direction of all financial operations, risk management, human resources and other administrative functions of the school, in order to fulfill the strategic plan of the school.

What you'll need to succeed

  • CPA, CA
  • Bilingual or understands French
  • Education experience
  • 3+ years in leadership capacity
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, and a professional accounting designation is also required; Higher certification such as MBA is a plus
  • Significant experience in an independent school or a non-profit organization is strongly preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience
  • Strong background in accounting, finance, financial modelling, financial control, financial reporting, cash management, investing, budgeting and forecasting
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and an ability to work under pressure both independently and within a team-oriented environment
  • Bilingual in French and English required. Knowledge and/or experience with the French culture is a plus
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background check (First Aid training, Police check, etc.)
