The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable individual to fill the role of Construction Supervisor. The Construction Supervisor optimizes the management of all projects required to support plant projects and maintenance/operation work and integrate the work at the plant level. Working with the Voisey's Bay team, this role is on a 14x14 days schedule, and the contract will go until December 31st, 2025.
- Provide construction supervision for capital and operating projects and Management of Change projects (Supervise)
- Provide operational support and direct supervision of contractors (Service Giving)
- Support the management of requisitions and performance of Technical and Commercial Evaluations (Coordinate)
- Support the service demand, planning of projects, and continuous contracts (Coordinate)
- Coordinate material logistics required for project execution (Coordinate)
- Perform Kick Off Meetings, and all associated Vale Safety Requirements in terms of contractor mobilization and job management during execution i.e. PHR, JHA, PMRA, FLHA, etc) (Service Giving)
- Monitor contractor work approvals, site access, quality, efficiency, qualifications and safety (Monitor)
- Review, validate, and approve Contractor Time Sheets
- Review, validate, and approve Contractor Invoices that services have been received
- Understand the scope of the contract to ensure the proper contract/contractor is utilized before scheduling a contractor to perform work (Coordinate)
- Perform contractor audits for safety, quality, qualifications, compliance, invoice auditing (Audit)
- Understand and access plant budget and contract spending information (Monitoring)
Essential Skills / Qualifications & Assets:
- Proven field supervisory skills
- A strong maintenance and/or project background and internal customer focus
- 5-7+ years of experience in a Mining, Smelting or, Refining Operation, Industrial or Chemical Plant Operation with exposure to project work of various sizes
- Strong and fluent understanding of computer programs and applications (Outlook, SAP, MS Word and Excel, MS Office, Teams)
OH&S, and environmental regulations. - Excellent understanding of project execution and great communication skills.
- Professional Engineering License or Certified Engineering Technologist.
- Education in an engineering, technical, or trades discipline is required. PMP Designation is an asset.
