Your new role

The Head, Finance Policies, Procedures and Standards develops and implements policies and procedures related to finance and procurement, assesses and leads the adoption of new accounting standards and application of existing standards to complex transactions. The Head also develops and provides ongoing training and support to Museum staff regarding finance procedures and policies, assists with development, implementation and oversight of appropriate internal controls, and assists with the creation and maintenance of the Museum’s budget and forecast models and assumptions.

What you'll need to succeed

• Completion of a University degree, in a field relevant to financial management. This can be a Bachelor of Commerce, a Bachelor of Business Administration. A Bachelor of Accounting, a master’s in business administration, or a demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• A professional accounting designation, or a demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and experience

6 years’ experience:
• developing and implementing, and monitoring financial internal controls;
• developing and implementing financial policies and procedures (recent experience) ;
• providing advice, guidance, interpretation and implementation of new accounting standards and amendments to accounting standards;
• applying accounting standards to complex situations and transactions;
• developing and implementing financial procedures, including documentation and training;
• working in a highly computerized environment;

2 years’ experience:
• designing, implementing, and monitoring financial internal controls;
• managing budget models and advising and guiding individuals with varying levels of financial expertise on budget development; and
• communicating, collaborating and interacting with internal and external staff and external organizations (including auditors).

And
• Experience with Public Sector Accounting Standards is an asset.
