Your new role
The purpose of the Assistant Financial Controller position would be to oversee, coordinate and manage various accounting & tax functions within the organization, such as general accounting, financial taxes, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that the financial records of the company are accurate, up-to-date, and comply with all relevant regulations. Ensure company liquidity and profitability through close maintaining of cash and production of robust financial information in accordance with internal and external rules and legislation. Ultimately, the goal of the Assistant Financial Controller is to support the overall financial health and growth of the organization.

Main Function Areas
In the role responsibilities include reviewing journal entries, processing and reviewing intercompany transactions, coordinating and reviewing fixed assets activities, and overseeing period close activities. Additionally, tasks include management and statutory reporting, control activities, reviewing sales commissions, and preparing records for internal and external auditors. Tax-related duties involve developing tax strategies, processing and reviewing taxes, reviewing corporate tax returns and local tax provisions, and monitoring tax compliance. Other responsibilities include balance sheet reconciliations, preparing financial statements, transfer pricing documentation, cash flow forecasting, variable cost allocation, ad-hoc management and cost analysis, and keeping track of licensing renewals. Also the involvement in preparing VAT/sales tax payments and journals, monitoring tax compliance, building knowledge repositories, and providing advisory services.

Main responsibilities
  • Support the end-to-end R2D processes, working with HBS(Hays Business Services) FSS(Financial Shares Services) colleagues, clients and suppliers where necessary.
  • Canadian expertise in period end close, sales commissions.
  • Support opportunities to automate and streamline processes with HBS colleagues
  • Manage and resolve complex escalated queries, risks and issues raised by HBS, clients and suppliers in line with interaction and escalation models
  • Enforce and communicate Hays Group Finance policy and ensure adequate controls are in place.
  • Group reporting: HFM, STAT, IMS, lease, carbon foot-print.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • 3-5+ years of experience in Accounting, Financial planning and analysis
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with commission calculations and payments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Member of a professional accounting body (e.g. CPA, CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Experience of working with shared service centre colleagues to deliver end to end processes
  • Experience with Great Plains
