Our client is a national real estate property management company with a diverse portfolio that includes shopping malls, office towers, and other retail properties, and is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join their team in Montreal.

Your new role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role involves managing financial transactions, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards for a portfolio of shopping malls. The Senior Property Accountant plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of the company's property portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Posting month-end journal entries for the portfolio of shopping malls.
  • Booking inter-company charges and ensuring the intercompany accounts balance and are refunded/paid.
  • Preparing bank reconciliations for select accounts.
  • Managing the financial statements for the shopping malls, as required.
  • Preparing realty taxes in Quebec
  • Handling CAM adjustments for the 13th invoice
  • Assisting in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end procedures for closing the books and preparing financial statements as needed.
  • Assisting the Financial Controller with side projects as needed.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Is fluent in both French and English.
  • Has at least 5 years of experience in commercial property accounting with shopping malls.
  • Is proficient in using Yardi software.
  • Demonstrates strong teamwork and reliability.
  • Pays strong attention to detail
  • Is able to navigate through all the intricacies of a high volume of leases within a shopping mall environment.
