Opportunity for a Building Manager to oversee a newer building in Surrey, BC!

Your new company

An established real estate developer company is actively looking to add a Building Manager to oversee a property in Surrey, BC. For the last 50+ years, this family-run company has made it their goal to contribute to the communities that they build and operate in. They do this through volunteering, fundraising, and contributing to various local organizations. This company is established and is continuing to expand its reach within Western Canada though continuing to build residential rental and commercial properties.

Your new role

In this role, you will be overseeing a rental building in Surrey, BC. The ideal candidate will have experience in Building Management and have strong interpersonal skills. The goal of this role is to provide an exceptional experience to the tenants of this building. You will be working closely with the property management team. This role will ideally be for a live-in Building Manager. However, if you live in the area, a live-out option may be considered. Responsibilities will include:
  • Be the first point of contact for tenants and your internal team.
  • Minor maintenance, troubleshooting and arranging any other maintenance with the Building Caretaker.
  • Property inspections ensuring the cleanliness of the building and property.
  • Work with the Property Management team to prepare building budgets, promote vacancies, conduct market surveys, and set rental rates.
  • Manage rent collection, rent arrears, and coordinate tenant evictions.
  • Maintain accurate records and data for the property.
  • Respond to on-call emergencies.

What you'll need to succeed

  • 3+ years experience as a Building Manager, Building Caretaker, Resident Manager or Resident Caretaker
  • Customer service approach to Building Management and Tenant Communication!
  • Experience screening applicants, leasing suites, and conducting move-ins/move-outs.
  • Ability to complete minor maintenance tasks.
  • On-call availability.
