Your new role
We are seeking an Estimator to join our team, responsible for accurate project estimation and tendering for various municipal, industrial, commercial, and institutional projects. The role involves reviewing drawings, performing quantity and earthworks take-offs, managing subtrades and suppliers, and preparing monthly progress quantities for client invoicing. Candidates with varying levels of experience are welcome, with training and coaching provided to develop a wide-ranging skill set. Preference will be given to those with previous heavy civil/underground experience.
Other Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Recruiting new work by reviewing various industry publications, electronic plans rooms, etc.
• Reviewing plans & specifications to determine the scope of work and to define project
requirements
• Outlining and proactively communicating project requirements and timelines
• Soliciting quotations and tendering contracts from consultants, sub-trades & suppliers

• Preparing quantity take-offs for all labour, equipment, materials and subcontractors
• Finalizing contracts that meet client requirements
• Communicating project progress with clients and addressing any concerns
• Working in collaboration with the Field manager and site foreman to ensure project deadlines;
quality of workmanship and overall project financial goals are met
• Issuing purchase orders / subcontracts & preparing construction schedules
• Requesting and maintaining utility locates and other permits as required• Finalizing contracts that meet client requirements
• Communicating project progress with clients and addressing any concerns
• Working in collaboration with the Field manager and site foreman to ensure project deadlines;
quality of workmanship and overall project financial goals are met
• Issuing purchase orders / subcontracts & preparing construction schedules
• Coordinating and communicating with subcontractors and suppliers according to project plan
• Quoting Contemplated Change Notices and Managing Change Orders
• Managing Site Instructions, RFI’s and responses
What you'll need to succeed
To excel in this role, you should have:
• Essential knowledge of commercial & heavy civil construction
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in all MS Office Applications and AutoCAD
• Ability to read and understand consultants’ plans
• Strong work ethic, highly motivated and enjoys a challenge

Preferred Experience & Skills:
• Years of experience estimating and/or managing civil construction projects of various budget levels
• Strong analytical skills and construction detailing practices
• Ability to work effectively with clients and all stakeholders for successful project completion
• Comfort and experience working with specialized estimating & project management software

• Working knowledge of current provincial & municipal design standards, OPSD’s etc.
