Your new role
As our Architectural Technologist, you'll be an integral part of our Building Design Team. Your key duties will include:
- Developing and producing detailed architectural drawings, plans, and specifications for a diverse pipeline of projects.
- Ensuring that all construction documentation is accurate and complies with project specifications, building codes, regulations, IFC standards, and industry guidelines.
- Coordinating permitting activities and documentation required for project development, including acquiring land, development permits, and building permits.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate approval processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, codes, and zoning requirements.
- Providing high-quality visual representations of project designs, serving as a rendering support member for the permitting team bullpen.
- Supporting Interior Design coordination for new construction and renovation projects, ensuring seamless integration of architectural and interior elements.
- Coordinating drawings between all disciplines, ensuring effective communication and integration of architectural plans with other engineering disciplines.
- Responding to and tracking RFI (Request for Information) submissions, actively addressing queries and clarifications from contractors and stakeholders.
- Administering contracts and reviewing shop drawings, conducting thorough reviews of project specifications, coordinating with contractors, and performing on-site inspections as necessary.
- Mentoring team members on technical skills, providing guidance and support in areas such as drafting techniques, software utilization, and construction detailing.
- Supporting the growth and development of company culture and professionally representing the firm.
- Performing other duties as required.
What you'll need to succeed
- At least 5 years of architectural experience with relevant project experience.
- Diploma in Architectural Technology (or equivalent).
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to produce a complete set of construction drawings with input from Architects, Consultants, and Senior Building Technicians.
- Experience with municipalities, including building permit submission, building permit applications, and responding to municipalities.
- Experience in coordinating drawings with consultants.
- Working knowledge of building envelope concepts, construction practice, and building systems.
- Wood Frame Construction experience.
- High-level organizational and time management skills.
- Understanding of construction details, materials, and specifications.
- Great interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented, versatile, and flexible, with excellent creative and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude, with good initiative and a strong work ethic.
- Working knowledge of the Canada Building Code and the British Columbia Building Code.
