Data Scientist

Your new company

Join a global leader in aviation technology and solutions, dedicated to enhancing air travel efficiency and safety through innovative algorithms and data-driven insights.

Your new role

As a Data Scientist specializing in aviation operations, you will focus on creating and optimizing algorithms to improve flight routes, fuel efficiency, and airspace management. You will analyze existing algorithms developed by leading institutions, reverse engineer them, and adapt them to fit the company's products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Reverse engineer and refine existing aviation algorithms.
  • Analyze and process live air traffic data to enhance flight routing and operational efficiency.
  • Work with large-scale aviation datasets, integrating historical and live traffic feeds for predictive modeling.
  • Develop optimization algorithms considering dynamic factors such as weather, congestion, and air traffic flow.
  • Design and implement machine learning and statistical models for predictive air traffic management.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, air traffic controllers, and software engineers to integrate live traffic data into operational tools.

What you'll need to succeed

  • 8-10 years of experience handling large-scale data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Expertise in Python.
  • Ability to analyze, reverse engineer, and optimize algorithms for real-time applications.
  • Understanding of air traffic management systems and aviation data sources like SWIM, TASAR, NASCENT, and DWR.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on real-world aviation challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience utilizing SWIM, TASAR, NASCENT, and DWR data sources for airspace and route planning.
  • Background in aerospace engineering, air traffic management, or flight operations.
  • Experience developing real-time decision-support tools for pilots, dispatchers, or air traffic controllers.
  • Knowledge of route optimization and fuel efficiency algorithms.
  • Hands-on experience with real-time data ingestion frameworks (Kafka, Spark Streaming, or similar).
  • Knowledge of weather impact analysis on air traffic and flight planning.
  • Experience working with live air traffic data and real-time decision-making systems.
  • Strong background in aviation operations, flight planning, and airspace management in the USA or internationally.

What you'll get in return

  • Opportunity to work 100% remotely with a globally distributed team.
  • Chance to work on innovative projects that impact the aviation industry.
  • Access to advanced technology and resources.
