A well-known Architecture firm is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team in the DT Vancouver area.

A well-known architectural company with several decades of expertise in large-scale high-rise, mixed-use, and commercial projects across North America is seeking a Senior Accountant. With a portfolio that spans millions of square feet, with a strong presence in Western Canada and the U.S.

Your new role

As the senior accountant, you will be responsible for the duties below:

  • Establish financial and operating benchmarks, coordinate and compile an annual budget;
  • Monitor the variances between actual and budget for revenues and expenses;
  • Closely monitor the project profit margin and work with Principals/Project Managers to ensure the targets are met;
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices and procedures;
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets and ensure smooth and efficient workflows;
  • Manage full cycle accounting and ensure timely preparation of monthly financial statements and related reports for all companies;
  • Coordinate with an external accountant to complete year-end financial statements;
  • Manage cash flow, including A/R, and follow up with the collections;
  • Work with an outsourced payroll provider and ensure staff payroll is accurate;
  • Manage and mentor the Staff Accountant.
  • Closely monitoring company’s financial health, including maintaining, managing and analyzing financial statements, payroll, budgets, tax compliance issues

What you'll need to succeed

  • CPA designation is required;
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration;
  • 5+ experience in Sr Accounting role;
  • Deltek Vantagepoint experience preferred;
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication and presentation skills;
  • Excellent collaborative problem-solving skills with an ability to implement solutions;
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
