Your new role
We are seeking a junior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team for a project with the City client. The Oracle DBA will be responsible for the installation, configuration, migration, testing, and documentation of the TXM (Tax Management) application upgrade to Oracle Fusion Middleware Infrastructure 14c. This role requires a quick turnaround, with an estimated kickoff in the first week of March.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and Configure: Install and configure the Oracle 14c Developer Suite and TXM Pilot Oracle Fusion Middleware Infrastructure 14c on new hardware provided by the city.
  • Documentation: Document the installation and configuration processes for the Developer Suite and Oracle Fusion Middleware Infrastructure 14c.
  • Upgrade and Migration: Upgrade all TXM Oracle Forms and Reports from 12c to 14c and ensure compatibility with Oracle APEX 24.1 (or later).
  • Load Balancing: Configure load balancing using F5 LTM for the pilot environment.
  • Testing and Failover: Perform unit testing and document the failover test for high availability and disaster recovery, including the failover of the Admin Server component.
  • System Improvements: Implement improvements needed in the system to resolve issues and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Provide detailed pilot walkthroughs and knowledge transfer to city resources to enable sign-off on the pilot phase.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Some experience with Oracle database administration, including installation, configuration, and migration tasks.
  • Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of Oracle database administration, Oracle Forms and Reports, and Oracle APEX. Familiarity with Oracle Fusion Middleware 14c is a plus.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot basic database issues.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and city resources.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and accuracy in managing database systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with load balancing and high availability configurations.
  • Knowledge of Java JDK compatible with Oracle Fusion Middleware 14c.
  • Familiarity with F5 LTM/GTM load balancers.
